Okay, I'm not saying that the cover illustration for the 5th anniversary reissue of Celeste isn't an awesome piece of art, but I can't help but feel it may be communicating a somewhat inaccurate sense of the game's actual tone.
I genuinely can't tell what it's supposed to communicate besides "it has a red-haired girl in it."
It's the sort of cover art one would ordinarily expect to see on a high-production-value visual novel that starts out slice of life but makes a hard turn into surrealist cosmic horror early in the second act, and also the protagonist has unresolved homoerotic tension with a girl who might be the living avatar of universal entropy or might just be goth.
A better cover would be taken up by the mountain on the Horizon with a teeny tiny Celeste in the corner for scale
"Celeste" is the mountain!
Her name is "Celeste's Monster".
